Bodhichitta Foundation was founded by Ani Nima Gurung, a Buddhist nun in 2013.
It started when Ani Nima was returning from pilgrimage of Milarepa cave to her home village of Manang in western Nepal 2013.
During three days walk to the village she met two little girls living under difficult circumstances due to poverty.
She decided to take the two little girls with her to Kathmandu, where she raised them like her own in her rented space and enrolled them into schools. The foundation grew bigger into 9 kids and after the devastating earthquake in Nepal, where many children were alone and orphaned. Having witnessed such harrowing conditions, Ani Nima took the orphans in and were temporarily living in tent due to the fear of earthquake.
To date, there are 27 children from ages 5 to 15 under her care at the Bodhichitta Foundation Home in Swoyambhunath.
